Comparing Energy Plans
The Apollo Alliance compared the Obama campaign’s energy proposals and the McCain campaign’s energy proposals with our own The New Apollo Program. Our proposal stresses investment in renewable energy, energy efficiency, transmission grids, transit, research and development, biofuels, and the millions of new family-supporting jobs that will come from scaling up our clean energy economy. Senator Obama’s New Energy For America is based in part of The New Apollo Program and our earlier 2004 New Energy For America report. Senator McCain, who initially expressed support for biofuels, renewable energy, and the jobs they would produce has shifted emphasis to domestic oil production and more nuclear power. Data Points: Green-Collar Jobs
When people talk about green-collar jobs, two questions always pop up. What is it? And how many are there? The first is easy to answer. You’d think there’d be an easy answer for the second question, too. But there isn’t. So we’re reporting what we know about below includes national job numbers, energy jobs broken down by sector, jobs in energy efficiency, construction jobs, and transportation jobs.
