| Washington Apollo, Governor Team Up for Climate, Green Jobs |

The Washington Apollo Alliance recently brought environmental, business and labor voices together to support Governor Gregoire’s Climate Action and Green Jobs bill. This bill would be the first statewide legislation to link global warming solutions with opportunities to invest in developing the state’s workforce in the growing clean energy sector. According to Rick Bender, President of the Washington State Labor Council, “the bill will prove that a ‘jobs vs. environment’ argument is a false argument because it will build pathways to prepare people for good, family-wage jobs in non-polluting employment, as well as promote sustainability of our natural resources and provide good value investment opportunities.”

| Energy Efficiency Means Big Jobs in the Big Apple |

Over 40 labor, environmental justice, business and workforce development leaders gathered in at City Hall in December to mark the release of the New York City Apollo Alliance's latest report Growing Green Collar Jobs: Energy Efficiency. The report, authored by Urban Agenda for the NYC Apollo Alliance, is the first in a series that explores the opportunities and barriers to green collar job creation in New York City. A major recommendation of the report is the formation of a Green Collar Jobs Taskforce to support green business and connect new and existing workers to green collar jobs.

| Helping Mayors Create Green Jobs |

The Apollo Alliance recently organized a Green-Collar Jobs panel at the largest-ever gathering of U.S. mayors on climate issues. Mayors from across the country heard from Jerome Ringo and other Apollo staff members about ways that global warming solutions can create good, clean jobs.

| Cleveland Rocks New Energy Economy |

Labor leaders from the Midwest and beyond joined the Ohio Apollo Alliance in Cleveland to explore the challenges and opportunities of America’s green industrial revolution. The Midwest Labor in the New Energy Economy Conference focused on giving today’s workforce the tools to succeed in a greener world.

| Apollo Unveils Newark Project at Clinton Initiative |

Apollo Alliance is teaming up with Mayor Cory A. Booker to make the City of Newark (NJ) a national showcase for smart energy solutions, clean development and green jobs. We’ll kick off the project, which was unveiled at the third annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative, by organizing Newark’s first-ever Green Futures Summit this spring.
